Who suffers from mental health issues?
One in five people in Canada suffer with a mental health issue, and of those, 70% also have some form of addiction.
Any person, any age, any race and background, can suffer with mental health issues.
Nobody wants to have a mental illness or addiction – it is not a lifestyle choice.
For every person living with a mental illness or addiction, another seven people are impacted.
Recovery from mental health and addiction issues is possible with appropriate treatment and support.
However, according to the Canadian Mental Health Association, about 60% of people do not seek help for
their illness or addiction. One of the main reasons is stigma.
